‘I’m with nature’ will be the tagline for World Environment Day 2017 after it won the most votes in an online poll.

World Environment Day is the biggest annual event for positive environmental action and takes place every 5 June. This year’s host country Canada has chosen the broader theme ‘Connecting People to Nature’ and will be the focus of celebrations around the planet.

In last month’s poll, ‘I’m with nature’ won one-third of the vote, edging out three other worthy candidates. The winner was particularly popular in Arabic as well as English. Thanks to the thousands of people who took part.

UN Environment will use the hashtags #WithNature as well as #WorldEnvironmentDay in its social media messaging around the event, which will kick off with an invitation to tell us about your favourite national park or wildlife sanctuary. We will feature the most striking images and stories on our digital channels.

World Environment Day 2017 is about getting outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and its importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share.

You can explore the theme and start thinking about what you can do ‘with nature’ to mark the day.

Check this space in the coming weeks for more details and ideas for this year’s campaign, and please sign up to receive all our updates ahead of World Environment Day.
